The leading carrier of India – Indigo – has introduced a number of changes in its flight schedule. Operations, which were grounded in winters due to technical constraint, fog or other reasons, have been re-started. This is the reason that the number of flights to Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai has increased in past few weeks. In addition, this carrier is also adding capacity on many routes to meet increasing demand for air travel in the country. It recently announced operations between Kolkata and Bhubaneswar, followed by the launch of flights on Kolkata-Dimapur-Delhi route. Dimapur is the 38th destination added in the network of this carrier. With this addition, travellers have more options to book flight tickets to Kolkata.

As per the press release, this low-cost carrier (LCC) will operate a daily flight between Kolkata and Delhi via Dimapur. This announcement just before the commencement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 is a treat for sports lovers. These services will start from April 15, and people, who are willing to watch IPL live cricket events organised at the Delhi and Kolkata stadiums can make their reservations now. In addition to this, the LCC will start it daily non-stop service between the capital city and Varanasi on the same day. These additions will help business travellers along with sports enthusiast, who are planning their trips for IPL 2015. As both the cities – Delhi and Kolkata – are listed in the list of team as well the stadiums, where IPL events are scheduled.
Apart from these additions, flights to Bhubaneswar and Mumbai via Bhubaneswar from Kolkata will also start in the mid of April. The flight for the former destination will leave at 3.00 pm as per the schedule. It will arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport at 4.00 pm. The return is scheduled on the same day, and it will leave for Kolkata at 4.30 and reach its destination at 5.30 pm. On the other hand, the flight for Mumbai will leave at 7.30, and after taking a halt at Bhubaneswar at 8.30 pm, reach its destination at 9.00 in the night. The Director at Biju Patnaik International Airport said that the demand for flights on this route was quite high and terminal also needed 20 per cent growth in the traffic.
