A few weeks back, this national airline announced 5 chartered flights to Chennai from Port Blair. It revised the plan and added another one to be operated on every Wednesday. Now, a total of 6 such flights are operates on alternate Saturdays and every Wednesdays in a month. The departure time of these flights is 9.40 am, which reaches Port Blair at 11.55 am. On the other hand, the return flight is scheduled at 12.30 pm and reaches Chennai at 2.45 pm.

SriLankan Airlines

In addition to the national airline, SriLankan Airlines also increased the frequency of operations between Colombo and Chennai. Now, this carrier offers around 86 flights between India and Sri Lanka, every week. As per reports, the airline reduced frequency of services on this route, back in 2013, as a result of low demand. However now, it has increased in the past few months. The General Manager (Sale) of the carrier said that Chennai is an important market for the company and hence, it has increased options for cheap flights to Chennai for its customers. There were more that 2.25 lakh arrivals at Colombo from Chennai in the previous year.
