Taking Care of Small Kids in Domestic Flights

Air travel is emerging as the first choice of people as it saves a lot of time and is becoming price effective as well. Various carriers are coming with latest technologies and new strategies to provide cheap domestic air tickets to travelers. Traveling from one city to another can take a day or two or even three via roadways or railways, but it hardly takes seven to eight hours with flights. It can be fun travelling for such long hours alone or with friends, but when the company includes an infant, it becomes really tough. Those are the times, when flights become the top choice. This mode of travel is the best in such situations, but there are several things that should be kept in mind while travelling with an infant in an aircraft.

Seat Selection and Packing Essentials

It is tough for small kids to sit at just one place for more than an hour, so frequent fliers advise to book the aisle or exit-row seats. This gives extra space to parents to move their kids from one seat to another or just take a walk in the isle, if the child does not feel like sitting. Parents can seek permission in advance to carry car seat of the infant in domestic flights. This will not only secure the kid in straps, but will also provide a familiar place for the kid. Full meal is one of the most important parts of packing while travelling with an infant. As per the flight schedule and eating habits of the baby, pack everything that the kid can eat or ask for in that duration.

Care of Small Kids in Flights
Till the baby is in a good mood, it is not tough to handle them, wherever they are. So, experienced fliers emphasise on keeping the child happy throughout the journey. Parents can pack their favourite toys along with new ones to divert their attention from the changes, which take place in flights due to different air pressure zones.

In-flight Care

Essential things to taking care of small kids in flightsAfter reaching the airport, the process of check-in and security check can irritate a little kid, and parents need to work in coordination to deal with it. One can stand in the queue for boarding passes and security check and the other can take the kid for a walk. After getting inside the flight, they need to make sure that baby does not feel ear pressure during take-off or landing. As per experts, swallowing releases the pressure, so parents can feed baby at these two times. Also, the skin of an infant is usually soft and tender, so it is advised to keep plenty of moisturising cream and apply it at short intervals, as in-flight air pressure changes make the skin dry and rough.

If passengers are flying for the first time with an infant, it does not hurt to ask for help. There can be experienced people all around, with various helpful tips. Many carriers provide extra facilities to those travelling with a baby. However, if nothing works, using parent instincts is the only option, like play peek-a-boo or any other thing that keeps the baby engaged.

SpiceJet, one of the top carriers of the country, sighting passenger safety has cancelled all its flights to Kabul – the capital city of Afghanistan – after the attacks on the Kabul International Airport in the past week. In an official statement, the carrier made it clear that flying its aircraft to the Afghan capital in the present scenario would be a mistake and risky for its passengers. People, who have already booked an air ticket to Kabul with this airline, will get a full refund. It is in discussion with other airlines to accommodate passengers who are still willing travel to Afghanistan.

The Attack

A rocket attack on the concerned airport was reported on 3rd July, followed by airport fire on 17th July. After considering the security status of this airport, the airline has temporarily suspended its flights. The airline is concerned about the safety of travellers and its crew. When the rocket was fired, over 100 people were all set to travel on the SpiceJet aircraft. Now, each passenger is being checked with a metal detector just before boarding the flight, even after clearing the security check at the terminal.

Afghanistan is interpreting this step as lack of trust on their security system, but as per sources, the carrier is not willing to take any risk with the life of its passengers and the aircraft. However, SpiceJet ticket booking process for any other destination has not been affected by this step. So, people can make reservations with the airline without any qualms. They can also enjoy top notch facilities provided by the carrier by availing it recently announced mega sales offer. The carrier has brought down its base fare to INR 1699 for travel dates falling in August and September.

Steps to be taken by Government to Provide Cheapest Airfare

The aviation industry has undergone a tremendous change in last few decades, and the most significant among them is the introduction of the low-cost carriers. With the changes in economic structure of the country, and travelling behaviour of people, the government of India is considering a revision in the visa rates, which in turn may affect the overall airfare. It is speculated that these changes will bring down the cost, creating a new standard for cheapest airfare. In an interview, the tourism minister said that the government is planning on to slash the visa rates and is taking actions to curb the increasing airfares to compete with the cheaper destinations all across the globe. During the interview, example of destinations of neighbouring country, Sri Lanka and South Africa was given.

When asked about price hike in the ticket prices of the popular destinations like Goa, the minister replied that several steps are being taken to control and reduce it, which may lead to reduction in the SpiceJet flight fares also. As per reports, during the peak season – December and January – the tickets can be more than INR 23,000, which is higher than the flight ticket to Bangkok. Additionally, he said that they are also making strategies to reduce visa rates and promote Indian tourism.

Comparing the price of Indian Visa to that of the Maldives and Sri Lanka, which costs around 75 per cent lesser, he said that new visa regime of e-visa facility, may be introduced in the near future. It is speculated that after implementation of these policies and changes, the cost of air travel will definitely come down leading to tremendous growth in the tourism sector of the country. This will help domestic carriers to sell their tickets at lesser rates and gain market share in the coming future.

Technological revolutions have simplified our lives in a number of ways. Online flight booking, reservations, payments, money transfers and many other time consuming activities can be carried out with just one click of a mouse button or a tap of the mobile phone. Earlier, it took days and weeks to introduce a new product or offer on the existing ones, and months to assess the results. However, now, these offers reach to target customers instantly, and its impact can be assessed in a short period. For instance, SpiceJet is offering around one million airline tickets having a base fare of just INR 999 and a significant number of tickets are already sold as per reports.

Studies show that online ticket bookings do not only save precious time, but also save a lot of money. A lot of hard earned money can be saved by availing seasonal offers rolled out by different carriers. Travellers planning their trip anytime between January and October in the next year can get one of those million tickets, prior to 10th of July. This is one of the most successful marketing strategies followed by low-cost carriers (LCCs) of other countries. Usually tickets booked under this scheme cannot be cancelled and are non-refundable, but as per Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), surcharge including taxes and other fee, except for the base fee can be claimed by travellers.

Industry experts say that this offer can generate quick funds for the Sun Group of India by turning in the fliers with long term plans. The carrier is using aggressive strategies to boost up the sales as the Premium Economy class was recently introduced by the airline, having about 36 inches of leg room as against the usual 32 inches provided in the Economy Class. Things to Know Before Booking International and Domestic Flights

Travelling to regional and international destinations by air is a feasible and convenient option. Today, a large number of people make reservations for flights with lowest airfare and travel across national, as well as international borders. Now, there is a list of things, which people should know before making reservations. For example, those who visit foreign countries love indulging in a spree of shopping to collect local items of that region as souvenirs. Experienced fliers suggest that people should be extra careful when buying these items and take precautions. This is because the customs department at almost all prominent airports around the world imposes certain restrictions on such products.

It is also advisable to check the terms and conditions published by the carrier, with regard to items allowed to be carried in an aircraft, before booking tickets with that airline. This factor is significant because people might even be prohibited from boarding a flight if they are denied clearance from the customs department. Besides, in some cases even if the travellers are allowed to board they might have to pay heavy charges to get through the security. Most travel experts opine that it is better to declare the possession of all such items, which might create controversies at the airport beforehand. This not only ensures smooth clearance and heckle-free journey but also prevents situations where tourists might have to pay additional charges.

Stringent Security at Regional and International Airports

The global aviation space has undergone several changes in the past few decades. With the heavy growth in the influx of passengers, the airline industry has imposed stringent security at all prominent airports of the world, especially at international terminals. Moreover, incidents like the 9/11 disaster shook the aviation world and led to a stricter imposition of security check regulations. Some of the nations are way too uncompromising when it comes to allowing certain types of objects in flights. Travellers are advised to be careful when carrying such objects across international borders. For example, a medicine prescribed for the treatment of a particular disease in a particular country might not be allowed in some other nation. Therefore, it is always better to declare all necessary items to be carried along and take prior permission to avoid hassles.

Additional Taxes on Costly Objects

Additional grants and taxes are imposed on import and export of costly items from one country to another. For instance, if a person has bought a luxury vehicle from another nation, he/she has to pay additional charges while entering into the borders of another country with that vehicle. Frequent fliers suggest that it is good to be acquainted about these surcharges prior to making such purchases.

Most travellers overlook this set of guidelines before they embark upon tours in international and domestic flights and eventually end up levying heavy amounts. To avoid such issues and enjoy a pleasant flying experience, people should keep these points in mind before making reservations with an airline. For knowing about carrier-specific and nation-specific details, people can browse through travel websites, which offer detailed information in this regard.
