Tickets under this scheme can be booked on various travel websites; however, it is to be noted that the fare is non-refundable, except additional fees and taxes. However, travellers need to keep certain other things in mind before making reservation under this discount sale. According to the conditions of this offer, it cannot be combined with any other similar scheme. Also, this sales offer will not be applicable for group bookings. In a press release it stated that as per the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), it notched up 93 per cent PLF in the month of September, breaking all previous records. This was the fifth consecutive occasion when it had crossed the 90 per cent mark in the current year.

In the same month, this domestic carrier improved with its on-time performance with 85.1 per cent. This was calculated based on the data collected from Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore. During this month, its market share stood at 12.3 per cent, making it the fourth largest airline in the country.

With this discount sale for the holiday season, SpiceJet Airlines is trying to compete strongly with the leading carriers, IndiGo, Air India and Jet Airways. Going by the statistics of the past few months, it would not be wrong to say that the airline is making quick inroads when it comes to expanding its customer base and the PLF. However, the competition will become tough as other carriers are also likely to follow suit and declare their discounted flight deals for the Diwali as well as the winter vacation season.

6 Tips for Finding Cheap International Flights

While air travel used to be one of the most expensive modes of transport a few decades ago, the era of expensive flight tickets is now gone. The development of modern, cheaper technology has given rise to various low-cost carriers (LCCs) that emphasize on providing affordable options to flyers. While most LCCs fly domestically, there are some that offer cheap international flights to travelers. Though most people can now afford to travel by air, flyers are continuously on the lookout to save more money. The following are a few things that travelers can do to ensure that they get the best deals available.

Book Tickets Early

It is no secret that the price of flight tickets rise as the departure date comes close. Especially during peak travel periods, people could be facing situations when they have to pay a price that is significantly higher than the usual amount charged for the same ticket. To avoid such circumstances, flyers should book their ticket at least two to three weeks before the domestic flight, and three to six months in the case of international.

Buy Tickets as Late as Possible

People, who have lost the opportunity to book flights early, could delay booking the flight as sometimes the prices go down near the departure date. This scenario is perfect for travelers who are flexible with their itinerary and can adjust their plans according to the deals in the market. Such offers can easily be found on the web pages of airlines or various portals of online travel agencies (OTAs). Such portals also offer cheap international flights to various destinations of the world.

Use Frequent Flyer Points

Almost all carriers, whether it is Air India, United Airlines or Emirates, have frequent flyer programmes. People who travel often can register themselves in a frequent flyer programme and start accumulating points from their first flight. These air miles can be used for availing different benefits that are especially tailor-made for members only. While some airlines give extra baggage allowance to their frequent flyers, a few even provide priority check-in and baggage handling as well as lounge access and award tickets.

Know Various Offers

Flyers can also avail cheap airfares while booking flights with OTAs. For instance, Yatra.com is currently offering an eCash of up to 25 per cent on booking international flights. This cashback or credit can be utilised by a flyer while buying another flight tickets with the portal. The website is also offering other discounts like a 100 per cent eCash on bus booking and buying flight tickets with its partner banks.

Check the Hidden Costs

Though various airlines offer cheap international flights, there are many hidden costs that a flyer should be aware of at the time of booking. Fees for carry-on bags, checked bags and advanced seat assignments/selection can sometimes cause the ticket total to go up.  Such situations can be avoided by checking or booking all the required amenities in advance. Along with this, being aware of fuel surcharges, carbon tax and airport fees will always ensure better calculation of expenditure at passenger level.

Buy Packages

Almost all travel agencies or OTAs offer special packages that include flight tickets and hotel stays in their itinerary. By buying such packages, flyers not only get cheaper deals, but they can also ensure the availability of accommodation for a hassle-free journey.

Another way to avail cheap international flights is by being flexible dates and travel destinations. It is often seen that airfares on popular routes are extraordinarily higher than that on lesser-known ones. Travelers can check the ticket prices to the nearby airports of their destination and see if they can save some money.

Knowing 5 Tips to Cope with Baggage Loss or Delay while Checking Oman Air Flight Schedule

Based at Muscat International Airport in Seeb, Oman Air is the national carrier of Oman. It traces its roots back to the 1970s when it was part of Oman International Services (OIS) before it was formally incorporated in 1993. Now, the carrier operates to over 40 destinations across 27 countries in the world. With a modern vision and timeless traditions, this airline has been able to capture the hearts of its passengers. The carrier has also revamped its services to accommodate the different needs and demands of flyers in terms of online check-in, Oman Air flight schedule and baggage details.

When it comes to baggage, passengers can not only know the allowance, but also follow various tips to cope in case of its loss or delayed arrival.

A Sturdy ID Tag

While there may be numerous reasons for lost or delayed baggage, passengers can help the airline locate it faster by putting a tag of identification on it. The tag may contain a name, address (office or home), phone number and an email ID. Along with this, attaching it to each bag with the help of a durable string or strap can prove to be extremely helpful.

Identifications Details on the Bag

It is considered important to attach a sturdy ID tag to the bag, and including one inside may be even better. If the external tag gets lost during transit, then the other one can ensure that the baggage reaches the passenger at the right time. Just like on the tag outside, passengers can put the aforementioned identification details on the internal one as well. Apart from this, a copy of the travel itinerary can also be kept in one of the inner pockets so that the carrier can track the passenger if the luggage is misplaced or delayed.

Getting Rid of Old Tags

Sometimes people forget to tear old baggage tags, which can create confusion during sorting. A bag, belonging to flyers travelling with Oman Air, may still have a bag claim tag of the carrier they flew with in the past. Now, when the luggage gets delayed or lost, this may create an air of confusion in the minds of the airline personnel. Eventually, this can lead to the baggage getting transferred to the wrong airline, resulting in further delay.

Colour Coding of Luggage

If checking the Oman Air flight status is important before passengers board the aircraft, then colour coding it may also be considered. If there is a sea of similar luggage at the conveyor belt, then locating a particular one can be tricky. However, a different colour scheme, passenger initials on the front in bright, bold letters, or coloured stick-on letters all around may make it easier to be recognized. Passengers can also take a photo of the bag that can come in handy in case of any mishap.

Help from the Airline

Delayed or lost baggage can cause excessive distress in all types of travel, be it business or leisure. But, being upset with the staff of the airline is not known to solve the issue. Passengers often get instant help by contacting the personnel at the check-in desk. For instance, if flyers are travelling with Oman Air, then the carrier always advises them to check-in around 90 minutes before the flight. Hence, getting the bags checked-in early may help eliminate the possibility of it getting misplaced. Along with this, checking if the bag has been tagged with the correct Oman Air flight number and destination before flyers leave the airline counter can also be a good idea.

The ground staff of the carrier is well equipped to handle all queries, related to baggage and Oman Air flight schedule. Therefore, taking their help during crises and bearing in mind the aforementioned tips may guarantee better baggage handling at the airline and passenger level.

6 Ways to Cope with Delays and Cancellations of International Flights

Some of the most disheartening news for a passenger, travelling for vacation or business, are delays and cancellations. Arriving at the airport in a hurry just to find that the flight is delayed or cancelled can prove to be a bad start to the trip. These types of mishaps can happen any time, be it before international flights or domestic ones. While there is no way of controlling them, there are definitely methods to cope with these circumstances, six of which are given below.

The Causes

For any passenger, knowing the cause of delay or cancellation is considered necessary. As per International Air Transport Association (IATA), it is mandatory for all airlines to notify passengers about cancellations and delays of international flights. Along with this, letting them know the reason behind such actions has also been mandated under IATA policies. There are different reasons for delays and cancellations, ranging from bad weather, security issues, fuelling hassles, maintenance problems and late arrival of the aircraft to unavailability of runways. Knowledge of these causes is always helpful for travellers as this will prepare them psychologically to cope with the situation at hand.

The Rights

It is a good idea to know what all a passenger is entitled to, if there is a schedule-related mishap. Every airline has different ways or policies of compensation in these circumstances. They may provide full refunds or alternative flights, depending on their policies. Therefore, knowing the policies and procedures of the airline can be important during cancellations and delays.

Weather Forecast

Tornadoes, hurricanes, snowstorms and heavy showers can disrupt the flight operations on any route. If passengers are travelling on trans-Atlantic or trans-Pacific international flights, then checking the condition of the sky 48 to 72 hours before departure will not be a bad idea. During winters, heavy snowfall in certain regions of Europe can also cause flight delays and cancellations, especially if the aircraft is crossing the Alps. So, checking the weather report a couple of days before the travel date could help a lot.
Customer Care

One of the best ways of knowing about delays or cancellations for international flights is checking the schedule and status. There are many passengers, who keep the airline customer care number on speed dial, to contact them promptly in the time of need. If the weather is bad, then the customer care staff can advise them on their plan of action.

Layover Time

In case of delays or cancellations, the layover time matters a lot. Airlines try to retain travellers by arranging for alternative flights. They can also provide the passenger, accommodation if the layover time stretches overnight. If the carrier does not provide any of these, then it is better to know ways of passing the layover time. In case people are holding a premium class ticket, they can always check-in at various lounges at airports.

Connections

Be it business or leisure, schedule-related situations can hamper plans abruptly. One of the first things that passengers can do at these times is checking if they will miss any connecting flight. If the connecting flights are with the same airline, then letting the ground staff know about them will only take the burden off the shoulders. However, if the carriers are different, then people can call the other airlines to arrange for alternative bookings.

Delays and cancellations can be handled in a better manner, if passengers take not of the six above-mentioned aspects at the right time.

6 Tips for Surviving Long-haul Flights with Lufthansa Airline

Long-haul flights can sometimes become intimidating as they can stretch for many hours. Dealing with the boredom and sketchy choice of seats can take a toll on the mood and health of passengers. Along with this, sometimes these flights can drain them financially if they have not availed deals, available on online travel agencies (OTAs). Therefore, it is important to know different must-dos before taking long-haul flights with carriers like Lufthansa Airline, for which numerous offers are available online.

The Price Tag

Looking at the price tag attached to air tickets can be a bit hard on passengers. Along with this, if they do not get proper seats and audio-video on demand, then it can create a bad impression in their mind about the airline. Hence, flyers can look for carriers like Lufthansa Airline that provide an entertainment system, customer-friendly in-flight services and good food. Taking stock of both fares and the amenities provided is a good idea to survive long-haul flights.

Connecting Flights

When travelling to faraway lands, travellers sometimes need to book different connecting flights to reach their destination. Transferring to another aircraft can be a long and tiring process. These connections entail clearing customs and security, re-checking baggage and moving to a completely different terminal during layovers. When connecting flights are booked together, then passengers are automatically checked-in for the transfer process by the airline, they are flying with on the first leg of their journey. Therefore, travellers can consider booking all the flights at the same time, rather than separately.

The Operating Airline

Nowadays, carriers like Lufthansa operate on long-haul routes in the trans-Atlantic and Pacific sectors. Passengers, therefore have a wide range of options available when booking flights to numerous destinations in Europe. Hence, choosing the right carrier to fly with may make a lot of difference when it comes to long-distance journeys by air. Food, in-flight entertainment and comfort can be considered when deciding on the airline to travel with. Lufthansa offers various types of meals that can be pre-booked at the time of web check-in. Passengers can also request the flight crew to provide seats that have screens, on which they can enjoy the audio-visual programmes offered by the carrier.

Aircraft Configuration

Every airline operating long-distance flights has an extensive range of aircraft. These jetliners are operated on different routes according to their capacity and engine power. Hence, people can look for the aircraft configuration on OTAs before making the reservation. Lufthansa has a comprehensive line of aircraft, comprising Boeings and Airbuses that are operated on various long-haul sectors. With tons of foot traffic and space, these models have been manufactured, keeping in mind the comfort of passengers.

The Travel Clothes

Men in pristine business suits and women in stilettos are a common sight at airports. However, these clothes and shoes can sometimes become a bit uncomfortable when people have to fly for long distances. Passengers can choose clothes that will let them move in the cabins of Lufthansa Airline without any hassle. Lightweight shoes that are easy to wear and discard without straining the feet can be worn. Flyers may pick shoes that will help them balance their bodyweight at the time of turbulence.

Movies and Entertainment on the Tablet

Travellers on exceptionally long Lufthansa Airline flights can think about programming their tablet in an organised manner. It is not only about updating the apps, but bucket-listed movies along with some e-books and magazines on different genres can also be fed into them. This will completely absorb the time of flyers, keeping them away from boredom. A full day away from phones, land mowers, car honks and emails may be difficult to manage these days. Therefore, travelling for long distances by air can be better for passengers to relax and feel rejuvenated.

These six tips can come in handy for those, who are planning to book long-haul flights.

Airbus 320Neo – Ruling the Skies for Domestic Flights

In recent times, the future of every domestic airline has come to depend on its services on the ground and in the air. In the case of low-cost carriers (LCCs) like IndiGo, SpiceJet and GoAir that face intense competition from one another, it has become important to improve their marketing strategies. These include revamping their fare structure, educating the ground staff to be passenger friendly and enhancing their fleet. With IndiGo placing orders for A320neos, the domestic flights scenario is expected to go through a lot of drastic changes in the next couple of years.

The Popularity of the Airbus A320neo Model

The A320 is one of the best-selling single-aisle aircraft families in the aviation world. In the domestic sector, the aircraft are known for their fuel efficiency, wide cabins, less turnaround radius, low operating cost and less maintenance. Along with this, there are many innovations in the A320neo jetliners like an increased number of exit doors, spacious overhead lockers and improved seat design. Owing to its better cruising range, size and pricing, it is one of the best options for many LCCs in the Indian aviation industry. The aircraft is also known for its large cargo bay, which helps in managing baggage in a better and organised way.

Advancements in A320neo

The A320 configuration has gone through many changes in the recent past in accordance with the increasing demands of the aviation industry, globally. With the introduction of Sharklets wingtip devices along with extra cabin optimization, the neo configuration provides better flight control during turbulence, and enhanced seating arrangement. Typically, the conventional A320 can accommodate around 150 passengers during domestic flights, however the neo models will be able to seat approximately 165 flyers. In addition to this, when the model is equipped with a certain high-density configuration, it will seat approximately 189 passengers.

The advanced technology of the neo variation is inclusive of weight-saving composites with a centralized fault display, which will help in enhanced troubleshooting. Apart from this, the upcoming models will also feature fly-by-wire flight controls that will decrease the workload of the pilot and provide air-frame structural protection. Cockpit standardization has been also followed in these jetliners to provide the flexibility to the pilot to fly all family members.

Fuel Efficiency Engines Good News for Domestic Flights

When market trends, high air traffic and season affect the fuel prices, it becomes necessary for domestic carriers to look for aircraft configurations that will help in lowering operating costs. One of the best aspects of these aircraft is their fuel efficiency in different operating conditions. This can help airlines in keeping a check on maintenance costs and fuel surcharges. Reducing the fuel burn per seat, these new engines provide around 500 nautical miles more in cruising range with an additional payload. This will not only ensure better performance for the airline, but will also enhance passenger experience in the days to come.

With so many innovations, the Airbus 320neo is designed to provide the best available service and engine orientation in the domestic flights market.

Based in Mumbai, GoAir is one of the largest low-cost carriers (LCCs) in India with passengers operations from all the major cities. Since its commencement in 2005 under the aviation wing of the Wadia Group, it has risen to new heights owing to its well-connected routes and dedicated service. In 2008, it was regarded as the Best Domestic Airline for Excellence in Quality and Efficient Service from Pacific Area Travel Writers Association. The carrier has tried to enhance passenger experience online by introducing Go Air web checkin, promotions and other related services

Know All About Online Check-in On GoAir

After the booking has been confirmed, a passenger can easily access web check-in through its website. Go Air online checkin can be done from the comfort of their home or office through any laptop or personal computer within 72 to two hours before the departure time. After the check-in, they will need to report at the airport at least 45 minutes before their departure. Owing to security reasons, Go Air does not allow group check-in through this service. Travellers can check necessary details on online travel portals regarding web check-in.

Print GoAir Boarding Pass Online

A boarding pass is a form of a permit provided by the carrier that allows the passenger to board the aircraft. After web check-in, an option to print the boarding pass pops up. Although, passengers can easily get a boarding pass from the check-in counter at the airport, but it is advisable to print the boarding pass at time of web check-in as this saves a lot of time and hassle. Along with the name of the passenger, travel date, class and the name of the airline, it also contains their seat, flight and gate number. All these details should be checked before boarding the flight to ensure that the passenger is not boarding the wrong flight. GoAir stamps the boarding pass to denote that the passenger has boarded the flight, which clears confusion during no shows. Passengers, who have printed their boarding passes online, can directly proceed for security check. Unaccompanied minors and passengers with wheelchair request need to go at the check-in counter at the airport to collect their boarding passes.

GoAir Online Ticket Service

The airline is famous for its world-class quality service and products that ensure the utmost satisfaction of the passenger. Whether the passenger has booked the tickets through an online travel agency (OTA) or the official website of the carrier, they can easily initiate Go Air ticket print online. The passengers will just need to provide their Passenger Name Record (PNR) generated during ticket booking.

Other Online Services

Other than web check-in, passengers can also check flight schedule and status to avoid waiting time at the airport. Passengers can also check their Go Air baggage allowance to ensure less difficulty at the airport. With the government and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) deciding to allow increased baggage weight during the check-in, passengers can now easily carry more luggage without any extra charge. Apart from this, it is also better to know what can be and cannot be carried in hand and checked-in baggage. The airline has the right to deny carriage, if the passenger is carrying any prohibited item.

The popularity of online web check-in and services has increased in the recent times as it save effort for the passenger and the airline.
