4 Airlines offering Cheap Flights to Kathmandu from India


Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, is also the most urbanized city in the country. Tourism is a major sources of revenue in the country and thousands people visit this country every year. Along with being the capital city, it is also the transportation hub in the nation. This is the reason that most of the carriers offer cheap flights to Kathmandu. Direct as well as non-stop services are operated by IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India and Jet Airways from Kolkata, Delhi and Varanasi. The weekly and daily frequencies vary from one carrier to another. Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA)

The sole international airport in the country, TIA used to serve as airfield. However, in 1949, the first commercial flight took off from this airport. It witnessed the commencement of first scheduled flight in 1950 when an Indian registered South Dakota D3 plane began its operations. TIA is situated in the proximity to Kathmandu, and used to be called Kathmandu or Gauchaur Airport, prior 1955. The location is important since it is surrounded by three ancient cities, Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. Flight to Kathmandu TIA

The Indian airlines connecting TIA are Air India, Jet Airways, IndiGo and SpiceJet. Delhi to Kathmandu route is serviced by all these four carriers. Jet Airways offer flights from Mumbai only whereas services from Varanasi and Kolkata are operated by Air India. Delhi – the capital city – has the highest number of scheduled flights to this airport.

As far as services from other parts of the world are concerned, the Turkish Airlines has recently begun direct services from Istanbul. New Airports for Nepal

With the increasing demand for air travel, the country plans to operate new international airports. Gautam Buddha Airport is currently being developed into an international airport in addition to Nijgadh and Pokhara.
