Travel Lite with GoAir Flights

GoAir airline of India operates on the low-cost business model. This model is characterised by lowest airfares without any attached frills of services, such as meals or entertainment inside the cabin. As per the rules of civil aviation authority in India, airlines are required to provide an allowance of certain baggage to the passengers. Typically, the allowance for domestic routes is 15 kg of checked in baggage and 7 kg of cabin baggage per person for economy class travel. However, the airlines, while permitting this allowance have also been encouraging passengers to leave their checked in bags at home and travel with only the hand baggage. To end this, they have added another fare class to their tickets. Go Air flights can now be booked on GoLite fares with the same objective.

As per the rules of these fares, the persons with only hand baggage are charged less sum for their tickets. It also gives passengers the option of paying only for their seat and a piece of hand baggage when they have no checked in luggage to carry. These fares are applicable on all domestic GoAir flights, for both non-stop and via-flights.

If passengers have to check in their baggage after buying these fares, airline charges some nominal additional fee for it. The fee is more if check-in is done at the airport than done online. In the event, the passengers refuse to pay these charges at the airport, before getting the boarding pass, airline reserves the right to deny the boarding to such passengers and can even forfeit the entire ticket fare (except government taxes).

Passengers are allowed to carry only 1 piece of cabin baggage under this fare category and that should not weigh more than 7 kg and have a sum of more than 115 centimetres in length, breadth and height. If the weight exceeds, there will be an additional charge of Rs 250 per excess kg. However, passengers are allowed to carry a regular sized laptop bag or ladies hand bag along with this cabin baggage without entailing any additional costs.

On Go Air flights originating from airports at Jammu and Kashmir, there is no provision of carrying cabin baggage due to security reasons. In that scenario when a passenger books a GoLite fare ticket from airports at Jammu and Kashmir, the bag will have to be checked in. All other conditions of carriage remain the same.

The rationale of introducing these Hand Baggage Only fares stems from the fact that more load due to checked in baggage on the aircraft reduces the fuel efficiency of these carriers. Since fuel costs comprise one-third of the operational costs, it makes sense to reduce the fuel consumption in every possible way. One of the ways to do it is to increase the fuel efficiency of the airplanes. Encouraging people not to bring their checked in bags is aimed at reducing the load on airplanes. Thus, introducing GoLite fares is one of the measures to meet the objective of improving fuel efficiency.

Travel Hassle Free With Go Air Web Checkin

Based in Mumbai, GoAir is one of the largest low-cost carriers (LCCs) in India with passengers operations from all the major cities. Since its commencement in 2005 under the aviation wing of the Wadia Group, it has risen to new heights owing to its well-connected routes and dedicated service. In 2008, it was regarded as the Best Domestic Airline for Excellence in Quality and Efficient Service from Pacific Area Travel Writers Association. The carrier has tried to enhance passenger experience online by introducing Go Air web checkin, promotions and other related services

Know All About Online Check-in On GoAir

After the booking has been confirmed, a passenger can easily access web check-in through its website. Go Air online checkin can be done from the comfort of their home or office through any laptop or personal computer within 72 to two hours before the departure time. After the check-in, they will need to report at the airport at least 45 minutes before their departure. Owing to security reasons, Go Air does not allow group check-in through this service. Travellers can check necessary details on online travel portals regarding web check-in.

Print GoAir Boarding Pass Online

A boarding pass is a form of a permit provided by the carrier that allows the passenger to board the aircraft. After web check-in, an option to print the boarding pass pops up. Although, passengers can easily get a boarding pass from the check-in counter at the airport, but it is advisable to print the boarding pass at time of web check-in as this saves a lot of time and hassle. Along with the name of the passenger, travel date, class and the name of the airline, it also contains their seat, flight and gate number. All these details should be checked before boarding the flight to ensure that the passenger is not boarding the wrong flight. GoAir stamps the boarding pass to denote that the passenger has boarded the flight, which clears confusion during no shows. Passengers, who have printed their boarding passes online, can directly proceed for security check. Unaccompanied minors and passengers with wheelchair request need to go at the check-in counter at the airport to collect their boarding passes.

GoAir Online Ticket Service

The airline is famous for its world-class quality service and products that ensure the utmost satisfaction of the passenger. Whether the passenger has booked the tickets through an online travel agency (OTA) or the official website of the carrier, they can easily initiate Go Air ticket print online. The passengers will just need to provide their Passenger Name Record (PNR) generated during ticket booking.

Other Online Services

Other than web check-in, passengers can also check flight schedule and status to avoid waiting time at the airport. Passengers can also check their Go Air baggage allowance to ensure less difficulty at the airport. With the government and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) deciding to allow increased baggage weight during the check-in, passengers can now easily carry more luggage without any extra charge. Apart from this, it is also better to know what can be and cannot be carried in hand and checked-in baggage. The airline has the right to deny carriage, if the passenger is carrying any prohibited item.

The popularity of online web check-in and services has increased in the recent times as it save effort for the passenger and the airline.
