What Makes Air India Airlines So Special!

The flag carrier of the nation, Air India (AI) is one of the most preferred airlines for domestic flyers. This carrier was founded as Tata Airlines in the 1930s and nationalised by Indian government after independence. Ever since, the airline started its operations in the country, it has been a leader and a pioneer in the Indian aviation industry. Air India airlines has a large fleet of around 115 that includes 43 wide body and 62 narrow body. It became a member of Star Alliance – one of the biggest airline association in the world – in 2014 and was the first Indian carrier to do so.

Operations in Cargo Delivery

The airline has an enormous network of cargo delivery that operates between 58 domestic and 29 international destinations. The thousands of corporate clientele is a testament to the level of services provided by AI. The carrier flies to major cities of Europe, America, Canada and Russia, along with several countries of the Middle East and Southeast Asia. It has collaborated with various foreign airlines along with transport companies to expand its business. The airline carries just about anything, from livestock to valuables that need to be taken in security lockers. It is also licensed to transport vulnerable/dangerous goods like medical and corrosive substances.

Innovations

Air India airlines have always been somewhat of a risk taker. Even recently, it surprised everyone by announcing the longest non-stop commercial route between Delhi and San Francisco. In October, 2015, it shifted its domestic services from Terminal 1A to Terminal T2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. This move has allowed the carrier to efficiently integrate its various operations on various routes. Now passengers have the advantage to easily shift between domestic and international sectors during their connecting flights.

Its Elaborate Fleet

Its fleet is something that makes AI stand out among all its competitors. With some of the largest passenger aircraft like Boeing 777-300 and 747-400, it attracts flyers to opt for its services. Boeing 787 Dream-liner also enhances the experience for passengers owing to its fuel-efficient engines, ample legroom and reclining seats. Air India airlines has approximately 21 of these giants that increase its passenger capacity by almost 5400, with around 375 in the Business Class.

Legacy

Being the oldest in the Indian aviation arena, Air India airlines can boast of a past that no other carrier can. This history gives AI a deep insight into the habits, likes and dislikes of the Indian flyers. The first flight of the carrier flew approximately a century ago and its name is rooted deep within aviation industry. When the Indian air travel industry saw a steep rise in 2015, the airlines also gained on its passenger load factor considerably.

Domestic and International Operations

AI is one of the biggest carriers in India with its passenger operations spread across the country and several other nations in five different continents. While its major hub is in South Asia, it also flies in Europe, Africa, Australia and North America. With a fleet of smaller aircraft, subsidiaries of AI take travelers to various Indian destinations like Agatti, Jabalpur, Dharamshala and Durgapur. These flights are effectively scheduled to connect major Indian tourist hubs to varied Tier II and III cities.

Offers to Flyers

AI has reached such heights in aviation only because it understands the needs and demands of flyers. Among the various schemes and offers it provides its customers with, The Maharajah Club is the most popular one. It is a frequent flying programme that the airline started so as to draw attention of its regular passengers. On becoming a member of this elite club, a flyer gets exclusive benefits like excessive baggage allowance, priority check-in and boarding, and three upgrade vouchers.

These are the few things that make it one of the biggest and most sought-after carriers in Indian skies.
